ABN AMRO Foundation

At ABN AMRO, we are very much part of the communities we serve and are looking to play an active role. Our policies are specifically based on our belief that all young, talented people should have the opportunity to grow and develop regardless of their economic, physical or cultural circumstances, and we walk our talk through the ABN AMRO Foundation, the face of ABN AMRO’s community investment.

Community investment

Social responsibility, for ABN AMRO, is all about the many different and voluntary ways in which we contribute to and invest in our communities – with money, means or people we make available to the local communities we serve.

The key is to help people get stronger who, for whatever reason, have fewer opportunities in life and in our society. We do this by encouraging our employees to make an active contribution by volunteering, and by supporting social projects. The Foundation has a number of areas of expertise:

As part of our ongoing integration – i.e. the tie-up of our two legal predecessors – the bank encourages active community investment by developing various integration activities in a social context. In real terms, this means that when two branch offices integrate, for instance, they’d be doing something for the community together – adding value in many different ways, by strengthening the community, by relating to the world around us, by performing community building team activities and by growing personally.

Volunteering and our employees

ABN AMRO’s collective labour agreement includes leave for voluntary activities: employees are allowed one week off a year to contribute to the community. Many employees take this opportunity to help primary school children with their reading, coaching lower secondary school pupils or organising a social team activity for their own departments.
