Bert Meerstadt was appointed to the Supervisory Board of ABN AMRO Group N.V. on 30 March 2010 and ABN AMRO Bank N.V. and Fortis Bank (Nederland) N.V. (as per 1 July 2010, merged with ABN AMRO Bank N.V.) on 1 April 2010.

He began his career in 1986 with McKinsey & Company as a Business Analyst. He later became an Associate and Engagement Manager in McKinsey’s Amsterdam and London offices.

He then co-founded and became Managing Partner of CONSULT Marketing and Brand Strategies in 1992, in which Young & Rubicam became a shareholder.

In 1995, he started as Chairman of Young & Rubicam Groep Netherlands. He became Chief Executive Officer of Young & Rubicam Europe, Middle East and Africa in 1998, based in London. At the same time, he also joined the Partnership Board of Young & Rubicam Inc. in New York.

In 2001, Bert Meerstadt became Director and Vice-Chairman of N.V. Nederlandse Spoorwegen (Netherlands Railways) and was appointed Chairman of the Board in 2009.
