Slavenburg Bank's 50th anniversary was in September 1975. Credit Lyonnais Bank Netherlands started the construction of a new office, designed by architect Helmut Jahn, in 1992. The building was opened in November 1996 by Princess Margriet as the headquarters of the General Bank Netherlands. In this photo, the building is adorned with the Fortis logo.

Dutch predecessor NCB Bank began in 1983 with a new activity: the Direct Bank. Direct Bank was banking from home via phone and was, in fact, the forerunner of today's Internet banking.
