Museums
Hermitage Amsterdam
ABN AMRO has been the main sponsor of Hermitage Amsterdam since 2004, and we’re delighted to have played our part in creating this wonderful museum in the heart of the Dutch capital.
Housed in a beautifully restored 17th century building, Hermitage Amsterdam shows rotating exhibitions of treasures from the superb collection of the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg. Since Hermitage Amsterdam operates two galleries, the museum is open virtually all year round. It’s a great example of an outstanding cultural legacy being given a new purpose, and of good corporate citizenship making art and culture accessible to a wide audience.

Hermitage for Children
Art and culture are a vital part of children’s education, and Hermitage Amsterdam has the largest space dedicated to educational programmes of any museum in the Netherlands. Every year, thousands of children between the ages of four and twelve enjoy an extensive programme of activities, each coordinated with the museum’s exhibitions.
The Hermitage for Children has five workshop spaces, two classrooms, a canteen and a gift shop, all housed in a dedicated building connected by a passageway to the main museum.

The Money Museum (Het Geldmuseum)
The Money Museum is housed in a fine building in Utrecht where all Dutch coins have been struck since 1911 – the perfect location for a museum devoted to our money culture and the emotional value of money.
Since 2007, we have sponsored the museum’s exhibition fund, helping it bring to life the history of money in the Netherlands for a wide audience. Since the remodelling and restoration of the building in 2006–07, visitors have enjoyed interactive multimedia presentations as they are guided through this fascinating story. The bank also intends to work with the ABN AMRO Foundation to make full use of the educational possibilities created by this sponsorship project.

Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam
In 1983, ABN AMRO became a founding partner of the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. A multipurpose complex that plays a vital role in the cultural life of the city, it has adapted to suit changing times but continues to provide a large, prestigious space in the heart of Amsterdam where people can gather for ceremonial and cultural events of all sorts, from exhibitions and concerts to royal inaugurations. As such, it fits perfectly with one of the main aims of our sponsorship: to embrace culture and open it up to a wide public.
Paleis het Loo
Het Loo Palace has attracted large numbers of visitors from the Netherlands and abroad since it was opened to the public in 1984, following a seven-year restoration.
More than 300,000 people now visit the museum every year. These impressive visitor numbers are achieved on the strength of the excellent state of preservation of the palace and gardens, as well as by staging exhibitions and organising other events targeted at a broad audience. Of course, visitors also appreciate our warm welcome and service.

While the lavishly furnished and decorated rooms illustrate three centuries of royal residence, the water works and elegantly landscaped flower beds in the reconstructed gardens evoke the spirit of the 17th century.
ABN AMRO has sponsored this splendid palace since 1 January 2012.
