Reading for and by young people
Reading is a key part of every child’s personal development, which is why ABN AMRO supports a variety of activities in this area.
National Read Aloud Days
Reading to young children stimulates their imagination, develops their understanding of language and gives them a huge amount of pleasure. On National Read Aloud Days, well-known Dutch personalities such as H.R.H. Princess Laurentien, Dennis van der Geest and Job Cohen read aloud to children all over the country.

Children’s Jury Bus
Since 1988, kids aged six to nine in the Netherlands have been voting every year for their favourite book from the previous year. A jury of 12 children then writes a jury report before announcing the winning authors at the end of June. The competition encourages children to think about which books they like and why, making it easier for them to form opinions about what they’re reading.
