Ian Dawson

In 1998 the term circular economy had no relevance yet, but now, almost twenty years later, Dawson's work has particular significance in this respect. He constructed his sculpture with old plastic waste bins. By fusing them together, he has obliterated practically any reference to the original form. What we see is a colorful sculpture which, oddly enough, is most reminiscent of a painting. It's as though Dawson paints with the melted plastic and thereby converts form and color into convincingly tangible energy.
