People here really listen to interns. They appreciate a fresh, young and creative take on things.
I am in the third year of my studies Commercial Economics at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA). It’s a broad degree programme that can be used in many areas, but Marketing appeals to me most. That’s why I looked for an internship in this field at ABN AMRO – specifically here, because my previous internship at the bank was fantastic.
I’ve just started my internship here, but it feels like I’ve been working here for much longer. It’s probably because I got to know ABN AMRO well during my other internship. At the time, I was the first point of contact for customers at a bank shop. That was a great experience and it really got me excited about the organisation. My current internship, too, promises to be very instructive.
Football has always been my greatest passion. As a boy, I dreamed of going professional, but you need to be so incredibly talented to get that far. These days I enjoy kicking a ball around with friends, and I go to the gym regularly – that gives me energy. As does spending time with friends and family. Catching up, having a meal and a drink together – that’s what I love.
After an introduction and orientation week, I got right down to business. That boosted my confidence, partly because people here really listen to interns. They appreciate a fresh, young and creative take on things. I value variation in my work, and that’s what this internship offers me. This is a very dynamic environment. I am faced with new challenges every day – from helping to create job market campaigns to conceiving, creating and publishing content for social media.
