Joost Korse, Trainee

Would you like to start your career at ABN AMRO? If so, a traineeship at our bank might be a good option for you. Select an initial field that ties in best with your background and ambitions, and apply for one of our vacancies. If we think you’ll fit in with us, we’ll be glad to discuss your desires and abilities with you. That is how we ensure that before long you’ll be feeling very much at home.

Within the field of your choice, you will do two large assignments and a client assignment during your traineeship. The focus here is on your development and on introducing you to our client. You will specialise in one of these six fields:

1 – Trainee Risk Management & Analytics

This field focuses on analysing and managing risks. Your work will help the bank realise solid risk management and sustainable growth. You will also learn how to make accurate assessments of the risks involved in accepting clients and products by intensively analysing figures and information flows. You will learn how to translate conclusions into clear and well-structured advice. Are you a born analyst? Very much at ease with figures and with presenting tough conclusions? If so, this is the field for you. See the options here.

2 – Trainee Relationship Management

Customer focus is your second nature. You will soon notice that ABN AMRO puts its customers first, and the role you play in this respect will be important from day one. You will gain experience in meeting with customers and will discover how a loan application works. You will also help draw up account plans. You will map out our market position and identify opportunities and threats for all segments and sectors. You might start out as an Assistant Relationship Manager or as a Team Leader at an Advice and Service Centre. Are you a true relationship manager who quickly understands the customer’s needs? Is achieving customer satisfaction your ambition? If so, this is the best field for you. See the options here.

3 – Trainee Policy & Regulations

As a bank, we always want to be in control, particularly where it concerns damage to our financial position and our reputation. Comprehensive policies based on the most recent legislation and regulations is an important part of this. You will contribute to this, for example by improving protection for investors, analysing suspicious transactions and assessing whether bank products comply with legislation. You will also learn how to formulate advice on accepting customers with increased risk profiles and you will participate in auditing processes. Do you like being in control? Is your risk awareness sharp and do you focus on implementing rules? If so, this specialist field is the perfect match for you. See the options here.

4 – Trainee Project & Process Management

The bank runs many projects, all of which need support, stakeholder management, planning and organisation. If you choose to start out as a Trainee in Project & Process Management, you will be responsible for a project unit that focuses strongly on stakeholder management. You will be assessing information critically, identifying points for improvement and drafting reports and advice for management accordingly. If you not only like advising, but also managing, and if you know how to lead projects and bring about changes in behaviour where necessary, this field is just right for you. See the options here.

5 – Trainee Finance

Work in the financial heart of the organisation, where preparing budgets, analysing financial risks and the bank’s performance are extremely important. As a Trainee, you might contribute to reports that the Managing Board can use to make the right decisions for the bank. You might also conduct benchmark studies into fair value disclosures in financial statements or into new regulations, thus helping to improve the bank’s interim financial reporting. We will also show you how ABN AMRO generates capital among investors. Are you driven by figures and targets? Are you comfortable with budgets and analysing financial risks? Then this is the field you should choose. See the options here.

6 – Trainee Marketing & Communications

This specialist field offers numerous options. You will be operating on the interface between marketing and communications. Assignments vary from positioning issues and product development to long-term marketing strategies for several business units within ABN AMRO. Or you might need to investigate how our products are aligned to the funding needs of our small business clients. After your traineeship, you can start as a Junior (Online) Marketeer, Junior Product Manager or Junior Communications Officer. Are you a creative thinker who puts our customers’ needs and interests centre stage? Do you enjoy developing, positioning and marketing new products? If so, this field will certainly suit you. See the options here.
