The HR Advisor formally reports to the Country Human Resources Director, but on an operational basis reports to the HR Business Partner team. This role is based predominantly in the London office with regular travel to the Haywards Heath office. The mission of HR UK is to provide a responsive, business aligned HR service to ABN employees and businesses. Working with Senior Management and Head Office to define and implement the HR strategy for ABN AMRO in the UK and implementing a structure to ensure appropriate governance and control in all HR activities. To support the HRBP team to act as a trusted advisor and counsel to the business to partner across all HR and people matters. Looking at strategy, policy, best practice, projects and cultural initiatives and providing appropriate Human Resources support and advice to Managers including, but not limited to: recruitment; employee relations; employment legislation; contracts; employment disputes resolutions; remuneration, benefits, learning and development etc.

Your job
  • Act as a HR Advisor supporting the HR BP team
  • Acts as a linking pin between the Administration team and the HR BP team
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for various cross entity projects, with the supervision and support of the HRBP team
  • Provide Managers with HR policy and process advice, escalating to the HR BP team where it is considered this is not being followed
  • Build and sustain effective working relationships with the business
  • Assisting with the implementation of HR deliverables and interventions required to deliver the client group’s business plan
  • Assist with the Identification of people practices and initiatives to support business aims and culture ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, policy and best practice
  • Work in partnership with the business and HR colleagues to ensure the delivery of services in line with the HR strategy and business strategies
  • Facilitate the development of a high performance culture and building organisational capability within the business
  • Support talent activities; identify development and training needs
  • Ensuring that the Performance Management process is implemented and followed in the spirit of the policy
  • Co-ordinating the preparation of job descriptions and monitor that job descriptions are kept up to date for existing staff
  • Conducting basic disciplinary and grievance meetings, and advising managers and staff
  • Support and embed L&D and OD initiatives
  • Assist in the annual salary review and bonus process, where appropriate
  • Ensuring that the department processes and procedures are followed by the team in line with Internal Audit standards and in accordance with best practice and good quality
  • Reviewing, interpreting and applying HR policies, both local and from Head Office
  • Responsible for the development and subsequent governance of Information and Consultation Committee including: ensuring legislative requirements adhered to; formation and structure of Committee; member nominations and elections; organising training for representatives so that they can meet their obligations; attendance at meetings as appropriate etc
  • Joint responsibility for system administrator duties relating to HR Database including: subsequent control of processes to ensure data is easily retrieved and is of highest integrity
  • Special projects as determined by the Country Human Resources Director
  • Oversight of administrative processes relating to designated business areas e.g.
  1. Monitoring return of joining documentation and full “on-boarding” process e.g. booking on induction day, adding to HR Database, informing Compliance if regulated persons
  2. Administering the reference process for new joiners e.g. applying for references and monitoring return. Chasing outstanding references. Ensuring that the reference dates match the dates provided by the new employee
  3. Co-ordinating probation review process. Producing probation forms for Line Managers, and subsequent probation confirmation or rejection letters
  4. Co-ordinating the leavers procedures e.g. production of letters; checking leaving details (pension, loans, etc); booking exit interview; notifying payroll
  5. Producing employment contracts, on receipt of appropriate authority

Your profile
  • Ideally part qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development
  • Good knowledge of employment law related matters
  • Accuracy in the reading and drafting of human resources related documentation
  • Able to respond quickly and patiently to requests from the business
  • Good awareness of the regulatory and legal framework as it relates to HR
  • Customer minded and excellent service orientation
  • Excellent team player with a strong focus on working together to achieve results
