At a glance

Are you at least a 2nd year Law student with a knack for international contracts? Do you want to experience what being a professional really is? Develop yourself into the expert you aim to become with us! ABN AMRO offers you the possibility to work with the best professionals in the business. We are looking for you!

Your job

On 31 December 2020, LIBOR, the most important benchmark rate for loans in the global financing market will disappear. This will have a large impact on the global lending market and as a result also on the lending portfolio of ABN AMRO, particularly in syndicated loans.

The disappearance of LIBOR means that we need to engage with borrowers and lenders on the replacement benchmark rate and make changes to the loan documentation in most of our portfolio. This is the reason why we are currently looking for an intern with an interest in legal documentation and global lending to map what needs to be done and execute the resulting actions.

Your activities will include:

  • Getting familiar with global lending and the relevant benchmark rates.
  • Investigating the portfolio to determine and document what needs to be done.
  • Engaging with borrowers and lenders to discuss the preferred outcome.
  • Ensuring the portfolio is ready for the new benchmark rates.
  • Providing support in our daily work.
Your profile
  • You are at least a 2nd year Law (HBO/WO or BSc/MSc).student.
  • You can start on September 1 preferably.
  • You are available for 6 months or longer.
  • Enthusiastic reader: you are well used to reading legal documents and you really enjoy it.
  • Eagle vision: your eyes are well trained to get all the details without losing the big picture.
  • Organised: you are often described as being organized, reliable, and confident.
Your working environment

You will work within the team Agency Syndicated Loans. We deal with loans that are provided by a group of banks, a so-called “syndicate”, that’s why these loans are called “syndicated loans”. In short, we are the middle man between the borrower and the group of lenders. The team has 18 people in the Netherlands and 6 abroad. Our facilities range in size from 70 million to 2.5 billion and we cover every possible sector, from infrastructural projects to hospitals to acquisition finance.

We work hard but also enjoy equally (our employee satisfaction is 4 on a 5-point scale). We are very flexible regarding working hours and working locations, as long as we fulfil our objectives. Moreover, former colleagues from our team praised our good working atmosphere, the support, the learnings and the fun!
