I’m doing something I am passionate about for an international company. I have to keep pinching myself.
After my degree in Business and Finance I started as an IT Service Desk operative. After a year I wanted new challenges. I got myself a qualification in Learning and Development. One of my goals was always an international role, and that’s exactly what I found at ABN AMRO in the Netherlands.
I work with our international HR and business communities to ensure they, and their teams, have the knowledge and skills to perform at their best to provide the best possible service to our clients. That includes advising managers, presenting at conferences, developing our international learning approach and more. Whatever it takes to provide our people with support and learning opportunities.
My main passion is my amazing, gorgeous Italian wife Floriana. She tops the list. Next in line is my love of music – any style, any genre, as long as it’s good. My 800 vinyl records moved with me from London to Amsterdam. Third, but certainly not last, football – both playing and supporting Liverpool FC.
I make sure we have the best development opportunities for our teams in different countries. So a ‘typical day’ does not exist. Of course, there are regular meetings and team updates. My favourite is the monthly discussion with the international Learning and Development managers. We talk about what is going on in the various countries, and I am always proud of the work they are doing to support learning and development in their regions.
