It has all come together in my current job: IT, audit, business processes and teamwork. It’s like all the pieces of the puzzle have fallen into place.
After studying Business Information Management, I went to work for Capgemini. At some point, I came into contact with the bank. My work experience was well-suited to the position of Auditor. Group Audit was looking for somebody with ‘a broad perspective and an eye for detail’. I liked the sound of that, so I switched over to the bank.
My career here so far feels right. I started out as an IT Auditor with PC/LAN security. Later on, I learned all about various business systems and was given the opportunity to do audit work abroad – fantastic! I became a manager when I merged the Internal Control teams in Rotterdam and The Hague. And it has all come together in my current job: IT, audits, business processes and teamwork. All the pieces of the puzzle have fallen into place.
My family comes first. I love going out for dinner or to the cinema together. Once a week I coach my youngest daughter’s hockey team. It’s wonderful to see the girls doing their best, getting a bit better every week and above all having a great time. I really enjoy that.
Once a week our team discusses the currently running audits. We also regularly review which reports we want to issue and how we’re going to do it. It’s pure teamwork, and we give each other tips on how to improve things. This week I’ll be working from home on Friday. At Audit, we have a lot of freedom to manage our own workload.
