ABN AMRO is a truly diverse company. The people who work here are very diverse, but are above all approachable.
I started working for ABN AMRO in mid-2013, via a graduate internship at Recruitment. At the time, I was following a Master’s degree programme in Labour and Organisational Psychology at VU University Amsterdam. After my internship, I was able to stay on. I haven’t regretted it for a second, as I thoroughly enjoy working here.
I’ve already gained experience in several of the bank’s departments. That’s important, because it has given me a better picture of my own interests. In my current job, I am part of a team that assesses which projects best tie in with the strategic goals of the bank. I’ve been given several departments to focus on – I monitor their projects and check whether all targets are being met.
I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember - in bands and musicals, for instance. I’m happy to be able to share my passion with ABN AMRO’s cabaret team. With professional help, we devise a show and perform it for colleagues across the country. It’s great fun! Soon I’ll be heading out to Sri Lanka, where I was born, to work in an orphanage for a month. The bank is letting me take special leave to do voluntary work there.
No week is the same, but the common thread is that we try to achieve the best possible results together with the departments. As well as compiling progress reports on projects and the job involves lots of meetings. All the variation gives me energy! We also do a lot together outside of work, from attending events or going out for drinks to playing hockey.
