Yesterday evening (local time) ABN AMRO Managing Board member Joop Wijn opened a new office in New York. The opening of this unit will give Dutch clients cheaper and easier access to the US markets and US companies, while US businesses in turn will gain easier and cheaper access to Dutch companies and equities.
The unit in New York will serve as the local point of contact for Dutch companies doing or seeking to do business and needing banking products in the United States, and will also help clients conducting business activities there.
As Joop Wijn explains, "Our primary purpose in opening this office in New York is to serve Dutch companies. We aim to be their primary bank, both at home and abroad. And it is specifically for internationally operating organisations that ABN AMRO has chosen to have its own branches in countries where many Dutch companies are active."
Following the opening of the New York office, ABN AMRO has a comprehensive international network covering 27 countries in the world's three most important time zones. With dealing rooms in New York, Singapore and Amsterdam, ABN AMRO can provide its full range of international financial products 24 hours a day across all the time zones.
The bank also has Energy, Commodities & Transportation (ECT) units in all three time zones to provide ECT financing around the clock.
Some 200 Dutch and US clients attended the opening of the office.
