ABN AMRO Energy Transition Fund invests in new wind farm

Greenchoice, Windunie and the ABN AMRO Energy Transition Fund have jointly acquired a 100% stake in ‘De Wieken’, a project-driven private company (BV) that will develop a wind farm known by the name of ‘DeVeenwieken’ in the Dutch province of Overijssel.

The wind farm will have ten windmills, with De Wieken planning to develop six. The wind turbines will be supplied by Enercon, are 99 metres high and should generate 14.1 MW between them. Construction is scheduled to start in the first half of 2019 and the first green power is expected to be supplied by the end of the same year – to around 10,000 households a annually.

Triodos Bank is providing the funding, and all parties involved are fuelled by the shared ambition to accelerate the decentralised energy transition in the Netherlands.

ABN AMRO Energy Transition Fund’s Frederik Deutman comments: “We are delighted that our investment is helping to propel the ambitions of Greenchoice and Windunie, both leading players in the country’s energy transition.” ABN AMRO launched its Energy Transition Fund earlier this year to help organisations that promote the energy transition to attract risk-bearing capital
