Delayed processing of ABN AMRO payments

Since Monday morning, 9 July, there have been delays in processing debits and credits resulting from transactions carried out on cash dispensers and payment terminals. Consequently, balances shown on Internet Banking and mobile banking are incorrect. While the malfunction was being repaired, incorrect or duplicate amounts were deducted from a number of customers’ bank accounts.


ABN AMRO regrets that payments processing during a systems malfunction resulted in incorrect amounts being deducted from customers’ accounts and that customers cannot access their precise account balances.

ABN AMRO is working on repairing the malfunction quickly and is investigating the cause of the problem. The bank is doing everything it can to re-credit erroneously deducted amounts to customers’ accounts as quickly as possible. Customers will not suffer any financial damages; needless to say, no costs will be charged for temporary overdrafts caused by incorrect debits. Updates will be provided via Internet Banking and mobile banking.
