Ajax and ABN AMRO have reached agreement on the extension of the sponsor contract. With the new agreement, the bank will remain connected to the club until at least mid 2023. From now on, ABN AMRO will focus on strengthening the women's teams within Ajax.
ABN AMRO is looking for 50,000 used tennis balls. The bank plans to use these balls to make a playground for the Krajicek Foundation, a partner of ABN AMRO. ABN AMRO is calling on all people in the Netherlands – including its employees – to donate their used tennis balls at one of the bank’s branches.
ABN AMRO and Rotterdam Ahoy today renewed their sponsorship contract for the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament for a further two years. As a result, ABN AMRO will continue to be involved with the tournament as its main sponsor in 2018-2019, as it has since the event first began in 1974, making ABN AMRO and Rotterdam Ahoy the longest-running sponsor partnership within the ATP World Tour.
Today, ABN AMRO and the Municipality of Amsterdam are joining forces to introduce primary school pupils to programming. As part of the programme Coding for Amsterdam, two hundred primary schools in the Amsterdam region will be offered an introductory class in programming. A follow-up class is available too, as the relevant teachers can opt to receive training and laptops.
Up-and-coming hockey star Jorrit Croon (18) and ABN AMRO signed an agreement at last weekend’s ABN AMRO Cup, giving Croon an ambassador’s role with the bank for the next two years. ABN AMRO has been a sponsor of field hockey for decades, and uses a range of different activities, under the label of Partner of the Future, to help develop hockey talent. In his new role Croon will assist ABN AMRO in these efforts.
The talented young Instagram photographer Annegien Schilling (16) is having her own exhibition at Amsterdam Central Station on 26 August. She acquired fame internationally for her surrealistic self-portraits on Instagram account Fetching_tigerss, which now has well over 721,000 followers. A selection of her best artworks will be exhibited in the Cuypers Hall of Amsterdam Central Station. At the end of the afternoon, Annegien will be present to explain her work and techniques. Entry to the exhibition is free.
All twelve of the Hockey Premier League's male teams have confirmed their participation for the ninth edition of the ABN AMRO Cup. Among the twelve teams are three that were promoted to the Premier League this season: Qui Vive, Tilburg, and Almere. The ABN AMRO Cup's first round will will be hosted by the Dutch hockey clubs Athena, Rosmalen, Klein Zwitserland, and Abcoude on Thursday 1 September. The second round, including the final, will be played at HC Rotterdam on 3 and 4 September.
ABN AMRO is going to use EUR 250 million of funding from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to provide loans and leases to Dutch businesses. This is the fourth time that the EIB and ABN AMRO are teaming up to create opportunities for Dutch companies to borrow money at attractive interest rate conditions.
Shortly before the playoffs, HC Bloemendaal and ABN AMRO signed a sponsorship agreement under which the bank will continue to sponsor the club for the next three years. The agreement was the last in a series of five sponsorship agreements that ABN AMRO has renewed with first division clubs. The bank will continue to sponsor the Netherlands’ top clubs in the coming years: HC Bloemendaal, HC Rotterdam, AHBC Amsterdam, HGC and Oranje-Zwart (after this season: Oranje-Rood).

With a stunt in downtown Rotterdam, French world class tennis player Gael Monfils, Dutch wheelchair tennis player Maikel Scheffers, two ball boys, and tournament directors Richard Krajicek and Esther Vergeer officially opened the 43rd ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament (WTT). A huge tennis court was attached vertically across the façade of ABN AMRO’s Coolsingel office, measuring 26 metres wide and nearly 50 metres tall. The ball boys moved along long cables to catch the tennis balls fired at them by the top tennis players from the roof of NH Hotel Atlanta.

As per 1 January 2017, the standard method for ABN AMRO’s Dutch SME clients to communicate their financial data to the bank will be the digital SBR (Standaard Bedrijfsrapportages) method used by the Dutch tax authorities. ABN AMRO is encouraging entrepreneurs to start using SBR in 2016.
Daphne Koster and ABN AMRO today signed a partnership agreement for the coming three years. As a sponsor of the Ajax Women’s Team, ABN AMRO is already involved in women’s football at Ajax Football Club, but the agreement adds a new dimension. Daphne Koster will scout talented female football players during the Ajax Talent Days and will then devote six weeks to coaching these players.
