These findings were revealed by a survey that GfK carried out for ABN AMRO Commercial Banking among 349 Dutch companies. ABN AMRO supports the transition to a more sustainable economy, and hopes to improve its understanding of what the Dutch business sector is doing in terms of sustainability.
ABN AMRO, ING and Rabobank today launched joint circular-economy finance guidelines, inspired by the ambition to create a joint framework for financing the circular economy. The guidelines meet a need for better insight into financial backing for the circular economy and aim to help drive such financing. They have been formally presented to Stientje van Veldhoven, the Netherlands’ Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Water Management, on behalf of the FinanCE Working Group, putting the three banks firmly at the forefront of international trends.

BREEAM is the international standard for assessing, improving and certifying the sustainability performance of buildings. ABN AMRO is giving all interested parties free access to its BREEAM-NL In-Use QuickScan, developed in cooperation with CFP Green Buildings and the Dutch Green Building Council. The QuickScan gives real estate owners insight into their property’s sustainability, health impacts and return on investment, plus information on financing and subsidy options. The BREEAM functionality has been added to ABN AMRO’s Sustainable Investment Tool, which now gives users more than just energy savings information. Today, the ABN AMRO BREEAM-NL In-Use QuickScan is being officially launched at the Provada Real Estate Fair at RAI Amsterdam.

What would you do if you came into a million? Many of us will have secretly wondered about this at some point. A big majority (55%) of the Netherlands’ young people between 18 and 29 would use it (among other things) to travel around the world, a survey by ABN AMRO MeesPierson finds. This is the prediction of investors with sustainable investments in their equity portfolios, as revealed by ABN AMRO MeesPierson’s recent representative survey. Almost two thirds of respondents believe that sustainable investments will eventually make up the greater part of investment portfolios and will yield higher returns than traditional investments. Over two thirds of sustainable investors said they would continue to expand their sustainable portfolios.

The report also describes the bank’s vision on opportunities presented by the circular economy in the construction and real estate industry and new earning models.
