The ABN AMRO Energy Transition Fund (“ETF”), part of ABN AMRO Private Equity, combines industry knowledge with investment skills to provide private equity to companies and projects alongside strategic or financial investors. The team focuses on the following sectors in (NW) Europe:

  • Renewables;
  • Clean Mobility;
  • Smart Infrastructures and
  • Energy Efficiency & Carbon Reduction.

The team is managing a diversified portfolio of investments, ranging from solar and onshore wind projects in the Netherlands, the UK and Italy to investments in companies active in the above-mentioned sectors (both majority and minority positions). ABN AMRO has committed a total amount of EUR 200m to ETF. The team is looking for a passionate and experienced Investment Manager to strengthen the team and to help achieve further international growth of the portfolio.

Your job

The main tasks and responsibilities of the Investment Manager will include:

  • Originating new investment opportunities;
  • Maintaining a broad network of contacts in the industry, target companies and with other relevant stakeholders such financial advisors and co-investors;
  • Executing transactions (as deal captain), including bearing the responsibility for the performance of valuations, structuring deals and negotiating transaction documentation;
  • Managing portfolio investments (value creation) and
  • Preparing for exits.

The Investment Manager will report to Frederik Deutman, Head of ETF.

Your working environment

ETF consists of 5 passionate investment professionals. The broader Private Equity team consists of nearly 20 colleagues. ABN AMRO Private Equity is located in the ITO Tower (Amsterdam Zuidas).

Your profile

The ideal candidate for this position has in-depth understanding of the energy transition industry in an international environment. He/she has a university degree and between 8 and 10 years relevant working experience, preferably a combination of Private Equity, M&A and management consulting. He/ she has a thorough understanding of an investment process from origination to closing deals, managing investment and exiting investments. Additionally, the candidate has experience with financial as well as legal documentation.

The candidate has proven credibility and trust at all levels based upon expertise and building relationships. Has the capacity to win support for investment strategies and proposals. Able to communicate with relevant stakeholders in a continuous search for the best tailor-made structure.

  • Professional with 8 to 10 years of experience in Private Equity, M&A and/or Management Consulting in an international environment;
  • Thorough understanding of investment processes and equity products. In addition, experience with exits of investments.;
  • Extensive network and a proven track record;
  • Knowledge of financial and legal documentation typical for Private Equity investments;
  • Experience with working in teams and managing teams;
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) and a good comprehension of the Dutch language, preferably also knowledge of other languages and a cross-cultural sensitivity;
  • Educated at university level;
  • A result-oriented, open and entrepreneurial work attitude;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills. Highly developed capacity for empathy and capacity to convince people;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Passionate about the Energy Transition markets and understanding of the characteristics of this industry, preferably with experience across borders.
