The Advanced Analytics Center of Expertise (AAD CoE) is a comprehensive data & analytics department part of Customer and Digital Experience in ABN AMRO Retail Banking.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our CoE as Lead Data Scientist. He/she will be responsible for leading a team of 10 data scientists and ML engineers, working on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

The Lead Data Scientist has a strong intuitive grasp of AI and ML, as well as core product skills (strategy, roadmaps, prioritization, etc.). He/she helps identify and prioritize the highest value applications for ML and do what it takes to make them successful. The Lead Data Scientist plans and executes the necessary AI/ML-driven process changes and initiatives necessary to deliver a complete solution to a stated business problem most often contributing to superior customer experience.

The job

Your job as Lead Data Scientist will be:

  • Own key initiatives and deliverables especially in Data Science application development and deployment in on-premises and cloud-based environments.
  • Act as an “external facing” business translator whose combined expertise in Data Science and AI enables the development of custom Data Science/ML solutions.
  • Partner with project and product managers/owners to assemble a cross-functional team of data experts, data scientists, and technology experts to design and deliver Data Science solutions that meet business needs.
  • Partner with project and product managers/owners to monitor and measure the business impact of Data Science deliverables, implementing changes as/when appropriate, to continuously improve reliability and efficiency of e.g., models.
  • Partner with several IT departments to prioritise the need of this Data Science team to operationalize models in Production.

The Advanced Analytics Center of Expertise (AAD CoE) is a comprehensive data & analytics department part of Customer and Digital Experience in ABN AMRO Retail Banking. At this place people work on the successful banking app, but also Grip and Tikkie. Here you find our E-Commerce teams and our colleagues of ‘Video Banking’. In short, within Customer & Digital Experience the online platforms are being created and built that offer all the digital products of ABN AMRO Retail. All of these developments and products are powered by the data & analytics of the Advanced Analytics & Data CoE.

Required qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, Data Science), Master’s degree in a similar program and 7+ years’ of relevant Data Science experience.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders and diverse, cross-functional teams/organizations to define requirements, scope and delivery timeframes, driving on-time execution.
  • Working knowledge and experience in statistical analysis packages like Python, R, Spark, as well as creating and translating advanced analytics models.
  • 2+ years project leadership experience.
  • 3+ years expert knowledge in AI/ ML strategy development, business plan implementation and ongoing scale/evolution management of models.
  • Strong analytical thinker with the ability to deliver high-quality work in a structured, disciplined and time-conscious manner.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate in both strategic and tactical environments, accommodating for global-level needs.
Preferred qualifications
  • Retail, Banking and/ or e-Commerce experience.
  • Microsoft Azure (ML and AI) experience.
  • Experienced in analyzing, designing and implementing large scale business and performance management solutions.
  • Ability to leverage technology e.g., SQL, Python to extract and manipulate (large) data.
