DESCRIPTION

    1. OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB

Management of money market banking book, ensuring prudential management of interest rate, liquidity risk and currency risk within approved risk limits and regulatory directives.

 

    1. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Pricing Support

Provide interest rate and FX pricing to business units in line with global pricing policy and market dynamics.

 

Funding and Cash flow Management

Management of nostros and daily cash flows within given limits, ensuring liquidity obligations are met at all times at minimal cost.

 

Interest rate management

Managing mismatch positions arising from client driven flows to optimize net interest income and ensuring interest rate risks are within approved risk limits.

 

 

Currency management

Ensure currency risks resulting from client flows and balance sheet are efficiently and properly managed.

 

Inter-bank access

Engage the inter-bank money market in managing mismatch positions, maintaining market presence in raising profile of bank in the inter-bank market. Initiate and maintain good relationship with local banks in Singapore and Hong Kong. Keeps abreast of market developments and identify potential adverse market conditions.

 

Regulatory Compliance

Stay abreast of regulatory framework impacting balance sheet management and ensure money market activities are conducted in conformity with regulatory requirements.

 

Market knowledge

Ensures the department’s awareness of short term and long term changes in the regional market, e.g. interest rates, currencies, actors and services. Analyses market changes and ensures the incorporation and distribution of the acquired knowledge within the Treasury policies and organisation

 

Management Reports

Drafts reports concerning the positions of the desk. Is able to explain and present these reports to higher management and stakeholders in head office.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • ​​​​​​​Minimum of around 8 years of relevant working experience in Treasury / Financial Markets trading
  • Good working knowledge of financial markets instruments and local market conditions for effective management of positions.
  • Knowledge of Money Market practices and conventions. 
  • Good communications skills to service business units and able to develop solid working relationships with support functions across the bank.
  • Able to work independently and professionally under stress situations.
  • Knowledge of the local regulatory framework concerning liquidity management.
  • Knowledge of the Murex system preferred
