Access to the archives

Once proper archival processing has taken place, records, as a rule, are transferred to the appropriate public depository. Archives of some of the above-mentioned predecessors have already been deposited elsewhere:

These archives have been deposited on a permanent loan basis, and are freely accessible, barring some restrictions for reasons of confidentiality.

Archives of the other principal predecessors of ABN AMRO are under the direct control of the History Department (HD). Access to the archives, or parts thereof, can be granted for the purpose of historical research in consultation with the HD. Third parties may also be given access to the archives for research purposes. Archive material dated after 1964 is not generally available to researchers.

Applications to consult some parts of the collection that are available after this date must be made to the head of the department/corporate historian. Researchers are required to sign a copy of our standard agreement on their first visit. Visiting hours (by appointment only) are Monday to Friday from 09.00-17.00.
