Credit Ratings

Credit ratings are measures of a borrower's creditworthiness – its ability to repay money it has borrowed or may borrow in the future.

The credit ratings are published by ratings agencies – in our case, Moody's, Standard & Poor's, FitchIBCA and DBRS.

They review a company's finances and assess the level of risk attached to its borrowing. A credit rating is published as a guide to lenders and potential lenders.

At present, as a result of the successful public offer for ABN AMRO Holding N.V. by RFS Holdings B.V., only the ultimate ownership of the share capital of ABN AMRO Holding N.V. has changed. The acquisition has therefore, for now, no impact on the status of all debt and related securities currently issued and/or guaranteed by ABN AMRO Holding N.V. or any of its subsidiaries.

* Fitch changed the definitions in 2002: 'A' ratings became 'F' ratings.
Therefore, the A1+ for 2001 is equal to the F1+ rating in 2002.
