ABN AMRO Wheelchair tennis tournament
Following the success of the previous two years’ events, the ABN AMRO World Wheelchair Tennis Tournament was held in 2011 during the prestigious ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament at the Ahoy arena. Directed by Olympic gold medallist Esther Vergeer, the tournament saw the world’s top ten singles and doubles players compete for the title. ABN AMRO supports the competition as the ‘FairShare partner’ of the Fonds Gehandicaptensport (Disabled Sports Fund). Under the FairShare scheme, the bank guarantees that 2% of its total sports sponsorship budget will go toward disabled sports.

Tournament director Richard Krajicek

Richard Krajicek
Richard Krajicek was one of the world’s top ten tennis players for many years. His greatest victory was, of course, Wimbledon in 1996, and he is also a two-time winner of the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament – in 1995 and again in 1997. Since being appointed tournament director in 2004, Richard has placed the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament firmly on the international map.

Richard Krajicek Foundation

Richard Krajicek is the founder of the highly successful Richard Krajicek Foundation, which encourages children from deprived areas to get involved in sport. ABN AMRO sponsors this initiative too.
