EEX is planning to add German - Austrian Wind Power Futures to its clearing portfolio in June 2016, subject to the relevant testing and setup processes. The underlying of the future is an index. The offering will consist of Weeks, Months, Quarters and Year contracts. Fulfilment by means of cash settlement based on the final settlement price on the settlement day following the last trading day.
ABN AMRO Clearing Bank will look into these new Wind Power contracts on EEX to add to our clearing portfolio.
Short Term Power Futures on European Energy Exchange (EEX)
In Q2-2016, EEX will introduce short term power futures to its trading platform. Based on client requests, EEX is gradually extending its product offering in the power derivatives contracts.
Due to the increasing share of renewable energy sources and their effect on short-term volatility, trading volumes in contracts such as Day, Weekend and Week Futures are rapidly growing in OTC markets and on the EEX platform. In general, volatility is declining further out on the curve and increasing at the front.
EEX intends (upon approval from the EEX Exchange Council) to launch the following products:
French Peak Day and French Peak Weekend Futures
Italian Peak Day and Italian Peak Weekend Futures
Nordic Base Week Futures
Dutch Base Week Futures
Swiss Base Week Futures
ABN AMRO Clearing Bank support these new contracts on EEX and is able to clear these for its clients.
