Top-notch tennis at the ABN AMRO Open
First, the children get a taste of tennis with a tennis lesson at school, and then it’s time for the real deal – a visit to the ABN AMRO Open. At Rotterdam Ahoy, the children play all kinds of tennis games and soak up the atmosphere of a world-class tennis tournament. Any children who discover a passion for tennis there can join a local tennis club, with support from the Youth Fund for Sports & Culture.

Discover your own style through street art
STRAAT, a civil society partner of ABN AMRO, takes education very seriously. Children regularly visit this impressive street art museum. ABN AMRO volunteers and children experience how street art inspires you to express your emotions and discover your own style and voice.

Making reading progress online
Distance doesn’t have to be a barrier to meaningful contact and valuable conversations. Every week, ABN AMRO volunteers help hundreds of children with their reading skills via their laptops. And of course there’s always time for a nice chat or a word of encouragement. This gives the children confidence, makes reading fun and leaves them feeling good.

A day at a musical
The AFAS Circustheater in Scheveningen, filled to the brim with excited children singing along at the top of their lungs. An afternoon of carefree enjoyment is something every child deserves. Through a special music programme, ABN AMRO volunteers and music teachers prepare the children for an unforgettable musical experience.

Connecting through sports
Being active outdoors and lots of smiles all around. During our sports days, children of various ages get together with ABN AMRO volunteers to enjoy all kinds of sports – from football to running, and from hockey to obstacle courses. Not only is it good for their health, it’s also good for team spirit and self-confidence.

Experiencing history firsthand
Children and ABN AMRO colleagues explore an open-air museum while history comes to life around them. The smell of bread baking on a wood fire, discovering traditional crafts and even a gladiator fight. History steps out of the books and into real life to captivate the imagination.

Visiting Ajax football club
Throughout the year, classes of schoolchildren visit Ajax’s training complex, De Toekomst. They are given a football clinic by a real Ajax trainer and find out what it takes to become a professional footballer – including discipline, teamwork and healthy eating. A huge treasure hunt around the Johan Cruyff ArenA, where children learn about roles like being a groundskeeper or press officer, adds to the excitement.

Solutions for more equal opportunities
ABN AMRO Foundation and the Youth Education Fund also address inequality of opportunity by carrying out joint research. This isn’t just to raise awareness but also to provide guidance on potential solutions. View the latest research (in Dutch) conducted by SEO Economic Research.
