External assessments

Clients and investors of ABN AMRO are increasingly interested in sustainability performance. We acknowledge this wish and have therefore published a number of Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) Rating Agencies’ assessments of us. In doing so, we provide more transparency to our stakeholders.

Some highlights:

• In September 2019, ABN AMRO has again been ranked among the top 10% of best banks in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index. The Dow Jones Sustainability Index serves as a benchmark for investors who integrate sustainability considerations into their portfolios.
• In 2019 ABN AMRO has again been ranked among the top 5% of best performing banks according to FTSE4Good. FTSE4Good assesses the sustainability of banks around the globe in terms of their environmental policies, social policies and governance.

ESG ratings

*Scores for 2014-2015 are based on publicly available data. No active participation. 
*The score of 2017-2018 is recalculated based on methodology changes to the 2018 assessment by RobecoSAM.
*RobecoSAM has evaluated ABN AMRO's DJSI score in Q1 2019, on the basis of a Media and Stakeholder Analysis. And lowered it from 86 to 83 points.

**** In 2018, Sustainalytics launched the new ESG Risk Rating which provides a quantitative measure of unmanaged ESG risk and distinguishes between five levels of risk: negligible, low, medium, high and severe
***** In 2018 the Transparency Benchmarks criteria have been updated. As of 2019, the maximum score is 100% and scoring through criteria takes place every 2 years
