ABN AMRO has completed the sale of Alfam to Rabobank, effective 1 November 2026. Following regulatory approval, all conditions relating to the transaction have now been met. This marks the start of a new phase, with Alfam and Freo, Rabobank’s lending business, continuing their activities together within a new organisation: Sprankr.

For clients, little will change for now. The familiar Defam and Freo brands will continue to operate. Alongside these, ABN AMRO and Rabobank are introducing Lendris – a new brand through which clients will be able to apply for a loan with either bank. This will ensure continued access to expert advice and responsible lending.

Annerie Vreugdenhil, Chief Commercial Officer Personal & Business Banking at ABN AMRO: “Together with Rabobank, we are creating a future-proof proposition with Lendris that gives clients access to expert guidance and responsible lending options. We are proud of this partnership and look forward to continuing to serve our clients’ interests in the years ahead.”

With the transaction formally completed, the focus in the period ahead will be on ensuring a careful transition and continuity for clients, colleagues and business partners.
