ABN AMRO Corporate Investments today publishes its 2025 Impact Report, providing a comprehensive overview of how it supports the transition to a more sustainable and resilient economy through direct investments, climate-focused fund investments and hybrid debt financing.
As part of ABN AMRO's broader Climate Strategy, Corporate Investments has the ambition to invest up to €1 billion by 2030 to help accelerate the transition to a lower-carbon economy. Through direct equity investments, fund commitments, co-investments and flexible financing solutions, it supports innovative businesses at different stages of growth. This helps companies scale technologies and business models that contribute to a lower-carbon economy.
SIF companies report 269 592 tonnes of avoided CO₂e
Portfolio companies within the Sustainable Impact Fund reported an estimated 269 592 tonnes of avoided CO₂-equivalent emissions (CO₂e) in 2025. These avoided emissions were generated through solutions supporting the energy transition, sustainable consumption and the built environment. The year was also marked by the successful exits of OG Clean Fuels and Eternal Sun Spire. During our period of ownership, both companies grew significantly and became established players in their respective markets. Together, they represented approximately 92% of the portfolio's reported avoided emissions in 2024. As these companies are no longer part of the portfolio, reported avoided emissions are lower this year. Both OG Clean Fuels and Eternal Sun Spire are well positioned to continue growth under their new shareholders and to further contribute to the energy transition.
Excluding these two exits, the remaining portfolio reported an estimated increase of 118,123 tonnes of avoided CO₂e compared with 2024. This increase was driven by continued commercial growth across portfolio companies, as well as improvements in the availability and quality of data.
Supporting climate solutions across multiple investment channels
Through investments in specialist venture capital and private equity funds, ABN AMRO Corporate Investments had indirect exposure to 47 underlying companies in 2025, developing solutions across areas such as the energy transition, industrial decarbonisation, biotechnology, sustainable agriculture and deep-tech. Hybrid Debt complements these activities by providing flexible growth capital to innovative companies that have demonstrated commercial traction but may not yet qualify for traditional bank financing.
Transparency remains central to impact reporting
The report continues ABN AMRO Corporate Investments' commitment to transparent impact reporting. As in previous years, the reported figures represent best-efforts estimates of the impact generated by portfolio companies and are not directly attributed to ABN AMRO Corporate Investments. The report focuses on the underlying impact generated by the companies and technologies supported through its investments, while recognising the opportunities and limitations of current impact measurement methodologies.
