ABN AMRO is extending its partnership with STRAAT Museum for two years. The extension enables both partners to continue their commitment to equal opportunities in the arts sector, with a strong focus on female artists and on children and young people growing up in less advantaged circumstances.
ABN AMRO and STRAAT Museum have worked together for several years to build a more inclusive street art landscape. Since the start of the partnership, they have launched a range of joint initiatives, including the Women in Street Art programme and the STRAAT Education Programme. The partners will use the extension to continue to build on their shared ambition and develop the existing programmes.
“Our sponsorship strategy focuses on accelerating equal opportunities for everyone who dares to begin,” says Sander Bestevaar, Head of Partnerships, Events and Foundations at ABN AMRO. “Together with STRAAT Museum, we make female artists more visible and introduce children and young people to art at an early stage. In doing so, we invest in their talent and in their future prospects. This shows that small beginnings can have a big impact.”
Small beginnings, big impact
During the preceding contract period, the share of female artists represented in the museum grew from 13% to at least 30%. This brought STRAAT in line with the balance in the street art sector and laid an important foundation for greater inclusivity at the museum.
The STRAAT Education Programme also saw strong growth. In 2025, ABN AMRO and STRAAT together reached more than 15,000 children and young people. The programme has grown by 30% each year, and this growth will continue in the coming years.
“Thanks to ABN AMRO’s long-term support, we are able to make a lasting difference as a museum,” says Marion Wolff, Director of STRAAT Museum. “The partnership enables us not only to give female street artists more space in our collection and programming, but also to actively introduce thousands of children and young people – especially those from less advantaged environments – to art. This combination of visibility, education and accessibility goes to the heart of what STRAAT aims to be: a museum firmly embedded in society.”
Continuation of Women in Street Art and education
The Women in Street Art programme will continue, including a Women in Street Art Jam in the summer of 2026. STRAAT Museum and ABN AMRO will be organising this multi-day event together with female and non-binary artists, featuring art, workshops and knowledge sessions. More information will follow.
The STRAAT Education Programme remains a key pillar of the partnership. In the coming year, around 19,500 children will be introduced to street art. A special effort will be made to invite children for whom access to art and culture is not always a given. To make this possible, STRAAT and ABN AMRO are working with schools supported by the Youth Education Fund. For schools that cannot afford transport, ABN AMRO will provide a dedicated STRAAT bus, ensuring that participation is possible for everyone.
