Independent research by the Dutch banking sector platform Banken.nl found for the third year in a row that ABN AMRO has the most extensive mobile banking app in the Netherlands. The bank has added 24 new options within the space of six months, giving the app a total of 57 functionalities. The app can now help users find their nearest cash machine easily, call a whole range of departments within the bank and add photos to contacts.
Use of app continuing to grow
Jessica Niewierra, Director of Internet & Mobile, is seeing huge growth in mobile banking at ABN AMRO. "There are now 45 million logins to the app every month”, she says. “That’s three times as many as for Internet Banking. Clients want to be able to do their banking from anywhere. By continually improving our Mobile Banking app, we are allowing them to do so."
The Netherlands leads the way in mobile banking
Studies have shown that the Netherlands has the most highly developed mobile banking market in Europe, and that one in four Dutch people use mobile banking on their smartphone and/or tablet. Over the last six months, banks have added a record number of options to their apps. Digitisation of service delivery is thus a priority for them.
About the research
In the mobile banking app comparison, the mobile banking apps offered by Dutch banks were compared on the basis of 76 functional criteria, ranging from payment functionalities to client reviews and from communication to personalisation. All Dutch banks with mobile banking apps took part in the study.
