ABN AMRO is providing €28 million in senior debt financing to XIVER, a leading Dutch semiconductor company based in Eindhoven. The financing forms part of a €55 million investment programme that will enable the company to further expand its production capacity and technological capabilities.

XIVER develops and manufactures integrated photonic chips, infrared sensor technologies, medical imaging technologies and advanced thin-film products. The investment will support upgrades to its manufacturing facilities and equipment base. One of the programme’s most important investments is the acquisition of an ASML DUV lithography system, which will further strengthen XIVER’s production capabilities and technological expertise.

Contributing to Europe’s technological resilience

The financing reflects ABN AMRO’s strategy to support the major transitions shaping Europe’s future economy. Financing these transitions, energy, technology, defence and mobility, is at the heart of the bank’s strategy. By supporting innovative companies in strategic sectors such as semiconductors and photonics, ABN AMRO helps strengthen Europe’s competitiveness, technological sovereignty and long-term economic resilience.

According to Hans Jansen, Senior Corporate Banker at ABN AMRO, the financing highlights the importance of continued investment in innovative technology companies: "As global competition for critical technologies intensifies, Europe must continue to invest in innovative semiconductor and photonics companies that strengthen its technological capabilities and economic resilience. At ABN AMRO, supporting these strategic sectors is a key part of our ambition to contribute to Europe’s technological resilience and long-term economic strength. We are proud to support XIVER’s growth journey and contribute to the scaling of a Dutch technology company that is becoming an increasingly important player in the global semiconductor ecosystem."

Wil van de Wiel, CEO of XIVER:“I am extremely proud of what our team has achieved in such a short period of time. With the support of our investors and ABN AMRO, we can now substantially scale our production capacity to meet the rapidly growing production requirements of our global customer base. At the same time, these investments further strengthen our technological and industrial position and represent an important next step towards establishing XIVER in a strategically controlling position within the global semiconductor value chain.”

Cees Meeuwis, founder and lead investor: “We can now accelerate the further expansion of our position within the European semiconductor and photonics ecosystem. Demand for our products and services is being driven by major global developments in AI, defence and the semiconductor industry as a whole. XIVER has the technology, infrastructure and industrialisation expertise required to play an increasingly important role in these rapidly growing markets.”

Accelerating growth

XIVER was carved out of Philips at the High Tech Campus Eindhoven and was acquired by Dutch investors in early 2025. Since then, the company has undergone a significant transformation and has established itself as a trusted partner to a growing number of international customers. The expansion of its manufacturing capacity will enable XIVER to meet rising demand for semiconductor and photonics technologies. Global developments in artificial intelligence (AI), defence and strategic technologies are driving increased demand for advanced chips and sensor solutions worldwide.
