ABN AMRO will collaborate with Google, Microsoft, Yahoo and XS4All to combat fake e-mails. E-mails sent by ABN AMRO will from now on be given a seal of approval so that the connected internet providers can distinguish fake e-mails from real ones and can block the fake e-mails.

False emails are emails where ABN AMRO is supposedly the sender. Malicious senders thereby try to install fraudulent software or retrieve personal codes.

Gijs Schreuder, Director of Paying for Private Individuals: 'Consumers and companies are daily bothered by fake e-mails. With this new step, our customers will be less bothered by this and fraud due to phishing and malware will decrease further. "

ABN AMRO takes continuous measures to prevent fraud. For example, the bank has transferred transfers abroad within internet banking and has set off withdrawals with a debit card outside of Europe as standard. After reporting a fake e-mail, the bank also has the site removed from the air that fraudsters use. Customers have also become more attentive through information.
