Starting on 1 January 2014, all banks will apply the same rules for safe banking for their private clients. Until now, ABN AMRO – like other banks – applied their own rules, which clients had to abide by. Security rules have also been modernised so clients know what to do to bank as safely as possible. The rules were designed jointly by the banks and the Dutch Consumer Association, Consumentenbond.

Security rules

From 1 January 2014, the security rules are:

  1. Keep your security codes secret.

  2. Make sure your bank card is never used by someone else.

  3. Make sure you install good security software to protect the devices you usefor banking.

  4. Check your bank account regularly.

  5. Report incidents to the bank immediately and follow their instructions.
