On 4 and 5 June the Financial Alliance of Women met for its Annual Summit, an important event focusing on the power of women in the global economy. The Champions of the Female Economy Awards Ceremony held on the second day included the Changemaker Award, which honours individuals who have made a big impact promoting the cause.

This year’s Changemaker Award went to Chantal Korteweg, ABN AMRO’s Head of Social Impact & Inclusive Banking, who represented the bank at the summit. She was praised for her tireless endeavours on behalf of women entrepreneurs and for her key role in the launch of Code-V, an alliance of leading public and private sector organisations working to create an entrepreneurial climate of equal opportunities in the Netherlands.

Chantal: “This award is a recognition of the impact made by our initiatives of the last year and boosts ABN AMRO’s unwavering efforts to achieve equal opportunities regardless of someone’s gender. This year we are continuing and increasing our influence, reputation and impact around women and finance through a unique social impact brand campaign, by connecting our partnership with Elfin with Preferred Banking benefits, and by training 5,000 employees to provide inclusive services.”

The Financial Alliance of Women’s Annual Summit brings together some of the foremost players from the financial, technology and real sectors. The alliance comprises members from over 135 countries aiming to unlock the power of the female economy. There is much work to be done in this area: many women are dissatisfied with the quality of the financial services they get, while others don’t have access to these services at all.
