The Hague, 13 October 2026 – A coalition of Dutch organisations, including ABN AMRO, Achmea,ASN Bank, Deloitte, KPN and Rabobank,is developing MyCheck – a secure and reliable digital identity wallet designed for use across a wide range of services.MyCheck complies with all applicable European regulationsandenable citizens and consumers to identify themselves securely online and share personal data. Users remain in control of which information they share with businesses and public authorities. The organisations behind MyCheck have offered to work with the Dutch government to introduce this independent wallet, at no cost to either the government or users.

New European rules

The European Union’s new rules on digital identity are known as eIDAS 2.0. Under these rules, all EU Member States must have a new system in place by the end of 2026 that enables people to share their identity and personal data digitally. Dutch organisations see this as an opportunity to work together on a digital identity wallet that is both secure and easy to use. The Dutch government welcomes initiatives by organisations seeking to test how eIDAS 2.0-compliant wallets will work in the Netherlands. Trials of this kind are necessary to build practical knowledge and experience ahead of the entry into force of the new framework.

A digital identity wallet for everyday use

MyCheck is a secure, user-friendly app for managing digital interactions, documents and personal data. It can be used to log in, prove your age, sign contracts and share address details for a driving licence or passport. Users remain in control of which information they share and never have to disclose more than is necessary. For example:

  • Prove your age without sharing unnecessary personal information: For access to an age-restricted product or service, users only need to prove that they are old enough. There is no need to share their name, address or full date of birth.

  • Log in more quickly and securely: Users can log in to services from different organisations through a single trusted app, eliminating the need for separate accounts and passwords.

  • Share verified information once: When entering into a contract or completing an application, users can share verified information directly, reducing the need to repeatedly fill in the same forms.

  • Choose which information you share: Users can see which information an organisation is requesting and decide whether to consent to sharing it.

  • Sign agreements digitally with ease: Users can review and digitally sign an agreement in the same trusted app.

A collaborative Dutch initiative

Digital identity is becoming increasingly important in people’s interactions with businesses and public-sector organisations. This creates a need for a solution that is secure, straightforward and accessible to a broad range of users. No single organisation can develop such a solution alone. A wide range of Dutch organisations from different sectors are therefore contributing to the initiative. Their participation reflects confidence in this Dutch-developed solution. By pooling their knowledge, technology and experience, they are building a secure digital foundation for the Netherlands. MyCheck offers a Dutch alternative to comparable services provided by major international technology companies. As a result, this initiative is of strategic importance to the Netherlands.

ABN AMRO, Achmea, ASN, Deloitte, KPN and Rabobankare the founding organisations and investors behind the initiative. A.S.R. and Nationale-Nederlanden have indicated that they intend to use the capabilitiesoffered by MyCheck. The group is also in discussions with several other organisations about joining the initiative.
