European Commission agrees to extend remedy deadline to 19 October 2009

On 2 October 2009 the European Commission announced that it was prepared to extend the deadline for the remedy to 19 October. This will provide scope to continue working on the alternatives for complying with the remedy.
ABN AMRO is pleased that this extension has been granted and will continue doing its utmost to find a definitive solution for the remedy. The European Commission's agreement to extend the deadline means that preparations for integrating ABN AMRO and Fortis Bank Nederland can continue.
