Reaction to the news about Huibert Boumeester
- About us
On 29 June the family of Huibert Boumeester released a statement acknowledging that the body found near Windsor, Berkshire, UK, is most probably that of Huibert Boumeester.
The police are still investigating and have not yet completed the formal identification process. ABN AMRO, like Mr Boumeester's family, is therefore reluctant to comment on the situation on the basis of reports in the media.
The family is deeply shocked, as we all are, by the apparent tragic outcome of Mr Boumeester's disappearance, which was reported Monday 22 June 2009.
Until March 2008, Huibert Boumeester was a member of the Managing Board of ABN AMRO. Among other responsibilities, he had been Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer.
Huibert, known as Huib, had a long and impressive career at ABN AMRO, where he began as a management trainee in Investment Banking in 1987. He served in various positions in Europe and Asia until his appointment in 2000 as Managing Director, Global Financial Markets. Huib was CEO of ABN AMRO Asset Management when he was appointed to the Managing Board.
Huibert dedicated his skills and experience to serving the bank over many years. Our deepest sympathies are with his family and we wish them strength during this difficult time.
