Auditor Independence Policy
ABN AMRO often works with external audit companies. These companies deliver services like audits and giving assurance. There are strict rules for their work. We therefore have rules for choosing, paying, and checking their work. Why? Because it is important that they stay independent. So, ABN AMRO and its legal entities make sure there are no conflicts of interest with these companies.
Three policy principles
1. No decision-making
The external audit company is not involved in the decision-making process at ABN AMRO.
2. No relationships
The external audit company makes sure that no (in)direct financial, business, employment or other relationship exists. An impartial and well-informed third party should conclude that they are independent.
3. Compliance
The external audit company assures that it complies with its’ internal rules regarding Auditor Independence.
The policy should comply with the applicable laws in the Netherlands.
ABN AMRO knows it's important to have a clear and honest relationship with the external audit company. ABN AMRO has set clear roles, responsibilities, and processes to make this happen.
