ABN AMRO will refund ‘Chipknip’ electronic purse balances to clients automatically in 2015.

As previously announced, Chipknip electronic purse cards will no longer function after 1 January 2015. There is still a relatively high balances stored on clients’ cards, and ABN AMRO has decided to take steps to rectify this by refunding these balances automatically.

The bank will aim to refund balances for clients with active debit cards by the end of January 2015. The Chipknip balances on other cards will be refunded as soon as possible thereafter.

Clients who would like to access their Chipknip balance sooner can transfer the balance on their electronic purse card to their current account at any Chipknip top-up point until 1 January 2015.
