ABN AMRO enables additional mortgage repayments through internet banking

Since recently, ABN AMRO customers can make additional mortgage repayments through internet banking, without having to visit a mortgage advisor.
ABN AMRO’s CEO Retail Banking Frans Woelders explains: 'In the fourth quarter, many of our customers make extra mortgage repayments. In the internet banking environment, this is now a simple process that only takes a few steps. We are glad to be offering our customers this quick and easy service.'
Initial experience shows that this new option is actually lowering the bar for customers to make additional repayments. Even customers with interest-only mortgages who have never repayed before are getting started now.
New monthly payment
Customers can make additional repayments up to the penalty-free maximum. The customer enters the amount he or she wants to repay, and can see the resulting new monthly payment straight away. Completing and sending in an authorisation form is no longer needed.
During the first half of this year, ABN AMRO customers have made additional mortgage repayments totalling half a billion euros.
