ABN AMRO will continue to be the main sponsor of the Richard Krajicek Foundation through 2016. Richard Krajicek established his Foundation more than seventeen years ago after being honoured as Wimbledon champion. Ernst Boekhorst (Head of Sponsoring & Events and Director of ABN AMRO Foundation), Joris Hermsen (Sponsor Manager at ABN AMRO) and Richard Krajicek signed the new sponsorship agreement on 10 October.
Playgrounds
‘You’re never too young to start playing sports.’ Former tennis pro Richard Krajicek is passionately committed to setting up multifunctional playgrounds in underprivileged neighbourhoods where all children can play sports close to home. Playground 106 was recently opened.
ABN AMRO firmly endorses the philosophy of the Krajicek Foundation. ‘The Richard Krajicek Foundation helps children discover and develop their talents, both at and beyond the playground. We are delighted to do our part,’ says Ernst Boekhorst.
Scholarships
ABN AMRO supports the scholarship programme of the Krajicek Foundation, which offers educational scholarships to young people. In exchange, recipients organise one hundred hours of sports and games at their neighbourhood playground. As a result, the Krajicek Foundation has organised more than 70,000 hours of sports and games at its playgrounds. ABN AMRO supports these scholarships by providing student grants and by offering the services of bank employees, who coach the scholarship recipients.
