From offices to homes

- Housing Market
ABN AMRO and real estate firm Caransa Groep this week signed a financing agreement for the transformation of 7,000 square metres of office space into homes. The office premises are located in the Pijp district of Amsterdam. The two signed the agreement at the Provada real estate fair in Amsterdam.
Maurits Caransa: ‘The Dutch market is ideal for transforming office properties that do not meet current standards. We explore the possibilities of repurposing property based on a sound business case. Having successfully transformed property in the Cobra Quarter, we are now excited about embarking on this project in the Pijp district of Amsterdam.’
Rutger Schuur of ABN AMRO Real Estate: ‘The real estate market is changing at breakneck speed. We have noted that vacant office space poses a big challenge to our property clients. So we actively explore the possibilities for transforming real estate profitably. In many cases, this is a good and sustainable solution, which we are eager to finance.’
