An increasing number of clients are doing their banking from home or on the move, with the result that visits to physical branches are declining steadily. As a consequence of this, the number of staff at – mostly smaller – branches has reduced. This means it is no longer possible for ABN AMRO to offer the desired level of security for visits to safe deposit boxes at these branches, for both clients and staff members.
The bank has therefore decided to stop offering safe deposit boxes at 125 smaller branches. The service will continue to be available at 95 larger branches. These branches are distributed throughout the Netherlands, and virtually no client will have to travel more than 20 kilometres to reach one.
Clients will be informed of this change over the next few days.
