A planet with a wide variety of plants, animals, microorganisms and fungi is the fundamental basis for a stable climate, clean air and water, healthy soil and thriving nature. This in turn is crucial for human wellbeing and a stable economy. We work with our clients and suppliers so that we can protect nature better.

The circular economy plays an important role here, because keeping materials and resources in use can ease the pressure on nature. We view biodiversity and the circular economy together as the key nature theme for ABN AMRO. It includes both living elements (biodiversity) and non-living elements (natural resources).

Nature Statement

Our approach in the area of nature is based on global regulations and developments. The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) was adopted during an important United Nations meeting on nature. The goal of the framework is to stop and reverse nature loss. The financial sector also has a clear responsibility here. Our Nature Statement explains that we support the GBF, what we aim to achieve and what we are going to do. Our main focus in this effort is to create a better dialogue with clients about biodiversity and to finance circular companies.
