Talent Centraal

We need more than ‘just’ talent to grow into top-class performers and truly make an impact. We have to work really, really hard, believe in our dreams and never give up. Other essential skills are also useful, skills that not every talented person is naturally great at. Our Talent Centraal programme helps highly motivated and talented people from the worlds of sports, art and culture, and social engagement to familiarise themselves with such issues as financial security, social media, mental balance and a solid work-life balance. All of these are just as important if we’re to get to the top.

What is Talent Centraal?

Talent Centraal is an ABN AMRO programme specially designed to help talented sportspeople, artists and social game-changers boost their careers. Talented and ambitious young people who just need a little leg-up can apply. Professional trainers with the right knowledge and tools help young talents reach their full potential. ABN AMRO works together with specialist organisations, whose founders have all made their marks.

Striking a balance

If you’re driven and highly ambitious, you’ll naturally focus mostly on your profession. But there’s more to life and the world: Talent Centraal aims to introduce talented young people to the basics of top-class sports and the world of art and culture, and we help them strike the right balance between their mission and their private lives. As well as physical strength, a passionate or even visionary mind, or the voice of an angel, having the right attitude matters, as this will help you go far in other areas of life as well.

Money smarts

Being money savvy is important for up-and-coming talents. Developing talent is an expensive business, and you’ll need funds for travel, professional trainers, new clothes or special dietary needs. Some are blessed with clubs, sponsors or parents paying some or even all of their expenses. But for those without financial support, money can be a major headache. Talent Centraal teaches young talents how to handle money, which is essential once they start earning their own income, dealing with sponsors or if they need to take some time off.

Knowledge is power

Growing from a talent to a top-class athlete, successful social entrepreneur or established artist requires more than muscle power, practice and making PowerPoint presentations. Mental capabilities are equally important. Talent Centraal teaches talents how to listen to their bodies, deal with nerves and build concentration. In addition, we teach them the ins and outs of image building. All top talents have their own stories to inspire their fans. Creating a compelling image is a special skill. What story should they tell and how should they go about it? What should – or shouldn’t – they share with fans? Here too, striking a balance between their public and private lives is essential.

Talented young athletes, artists and entrepreneurs can register for Talent Centraal, even if they are already connected to one of ABN AMRO’s sponsorships. Read more about the programme and our approach, or get some tips, at Talent Centraal.
