Talent Centraal turns top-class athletes into all-round winners
We need to cherish, encourage and coach ambitious and talented young athletes, so they can grow into successful top-class athletes. Financial security and hard work are essential to reach the top in the world of sports. But there’s more. Having time to yourself, being able to deal with finances and staying in control. Talent Centraal provides an all-round development programme for talented young athletes.
Led by top-class athletes
Talent Centraal is a programme specially designed by ABN AMRO to help talented athletes boost their careers. Young, talented and ambitious athletes who need some extra support can apply for the programme. Handicapped athletes are also eligible for the programme. Professional trainers with the right knowledge and tools help young talents reach their full potential. ABN AMRO works together with specialised parties, whose founders have made their marks in the world of sports:
- Sporttop with Jochem Uytdehaage
- Talentboek with Yvonne van Gennip
- De SportMaatschappij with Sylvia Karres
- Helden Magazine with Barbara Barend
Balancing life on and off the fields
Talent Centraal aims to introduce talented young athletes to the basics of top-class sports, which requires not only physical strength but also the right attitude. Work/life balance, financial security, mental balance and a positive image are absolutely essential to be able to perform sports at the highest level.
Healthy balance between exertion and relaxation
Of course, ambitious athletes focus mainly on their sports, but there is more to life than just sports. Talent Centraal helps talented young athletes find the right balance between their sport and their private lives. Athletes have great drive, and their attitude will enable them to achieve a lot in other fields too. The programme helps these young people discover and develop other, hidden, talents.
Being keen on the financial side is important for up and coming athletes. Top-class sports are expensive, and athletes need funds for travel, professional trainers, new clothing or special dietary needs. Some athletes are blessed with clubs, sponsors or parents paying for some or even all of their expenses. Athletes without financial support usually face financial problems. Talent Centraal teaches young athletes how to deal with the financial side of sports, which is essential once they start earning their own income, dealing with sponsors or if they need to take some time off from sports.
Knowledge is strength
Growing from a talented to a top-class athlete requires more than just muscle power. Mental capabilities are equally important. Talent Centraal teaches talented young athletes how to listen to their body, deal with nerves and build concentration.
Image building: a special skill
All top-class athletes have their own story, something that keeps their fans interested. Building up an interesting image is a special skill. Talent Centraal teaches athletes the ins and outs of image building. What story should they tell and how should they go about it? What should or shouldn’t they share with fans? In this regard, keeping a balance between the public and their private lives is also essential.
Talented young athletes can register for Talent Centraal, even if they are already connected to one of ABN AMRO’s sponsorships. Read more about the programme, our approach and some tips at Talent Centraal.
