Driving Dutch Design: young designers from programme’s latest edition present themselves

Designers are not always naturals when it comes to business skills. In the past year, the Driving Dutch Design programme has helped another crop of budding design talents – the third since its launch in 2012 - develop their entrepreneurial side. During Dutch Design Week, the participants present themselves to the general public in the exhibition Momentum, and pitch to potential clients at the business event Drivers 2015.
, an initiative of ABN AMRO, the Association of Dutch Designers (BNO) and the organisers of Dutch Design Week, is a programme to introduce budding design talents to the world of business. ABN AMRO gives each of them a personal coach, and over a 10-month period, they get a chance to participate in master classes and co-creation sessions to help them take their businesses to the next level.
Climax
The programme culminates in the presentation of the participants during . On 20 October they will be pitching their plans to potential clients at the business event in Eindhoven. Between 17 and 25 October the results of their sessions are on display in the exhibition , a Collaboration of Young Entrepreneurs. A visual experience combining video, graphic elements, photography and special design, Momentum gives an impression of the unique collaboration between designers from a range of disciplines, and of the new insights and skills that these designers acquired in the DDD programme.

The following “Drivers” will be presenting themselves at this year’s Dutch Design Week: Alei Verspoor, Echter Ontwerp, Hats & Tales, Liat Azulay / Nudnik, Mark Vankan / Anidesign, Mianne de Vries, Pim Schachtschabel, Renate Nederpel, Rick Tegelaar, Studio Kars & Boom, Studio TOIMII, Thier&vanDaalen, Thomas Overweg / Glowbots en Tim van de Weerd.
Alumni
Talents from the 2013 and 2014 editions of DDD are returning to Dutch Design Week this year to show the progress they have made. Aoife Wullur, Carolijn Slottje, Dirk Osinga, Merel Bekking, Nienke Hoogvliet, Studio 1:1, Studio Roex and Studio Lotte Douwes will all be contributing in various ways to Dutch Design Week with presentations, studio openings and new product launches.
