Foundation has already helped 10,000 young people this year

ABN AMRO Foundation has this year already given 10,146 underprivileged children and young people a fun and educational day. Our bank believes so strongly in giving back to the community that our employees get volunteer leave every year.

ABN AMRO has a clear purpose: Banking for better, for generations to come. That means we’re helping to create a brighter future for everyone. In everything we do, we want to have a positive impact on society. Our very own ABN AMRO Foundation has been putting this ambition into practice since 2001, helping to create an environment in which young people make the most of their future.

ABN AMRO Foundation organises activities for children and young people who have fewer opportunities than their peers. Together with various partners, including the Youth Education Fund (Jeugdeducatiefonds), we give these young people a chance to discover their interests – both social and financial.

Self-knowledge, independence, broader horizons

How? By taking a class to visit a special museum. By coaching pupils on the pitch of their favourite sports club. By teaching them about saving and spending their money – and avoiding overdrafts. And by teaching them to program, right on their own laptops. Time and attention are priceless for these children. We’re aiming to achieve three goals: self-knowledge, independence and broader horizons. That’s something they can build on.

Figures for 2018

In 2018, a total of ABN AMRO 5,432 volunteers participated in an ABN AMRO Foundation activity. That’s 30 percent of our workforce! Together we spent 25,726 hours on giving back, supporting a total of 15,343 children and young people in 218 projects.

This year we’ve already helped more than 10,000 young people. School is back in session, we’ve scheduled loads of activities and every ABN AMRO employee gets a full working week a year of paid volunteer leave . And we’re not done yet – we’re working hard to reach our target of helping 17,000 young people in 2019.
