ABN AMRO will be the partner for the Uitmarkt in 2014 and 2015. With some 500,000 visitors every year, the Uitmarkt is the biggest free cultural festival in the Netherlands and traditionally kicks off the start of the cultural season. This year the Uitmarkt will be held from Friday 29 August to Sunday 31 August in the Museumplein and Leidseplein neighbourhoods of Amsterdam. The agreement consists of intensive collaboration plus a financial contribution making the Uitmarkt possible. Both parties have expressed their intention to work together for the coming years.

ABN AMRO expresses its dedication to the cultural sector by, among other things, sponsoring cultural projects. The bank is committed to helping young, up-and-coming talented people to develop, professionalising the cultural sector and promoting cultural enterprise. Partnering with the Uitmarkt is an ideal way to achieve these goals.

Focus of the partnership in 2014

The partnership between ABN AMRO and the Uitmarkt will focus in 2014 on promoting cultural enterprise and, where possible, developing talent. Prior to the Uitmarkt, ABN AMRO will hold the Uitmarkt Business Day on 29 August, including one-on-one sessions with specialists from the cultural and financial sectors, a plenary meeting and workshops on hot topics relating to cultural enterprise. The ABN AMRO Uitmarkt Business Day aims to advise and inspire senior managers and MT members at cultural organisations.

Jan de Rooij, chairman of Stichting Uitmarkt: “We are delighted that Amsterdam Marketing has secured the commitment of this new partner. ABN AMRO will give the Uitmarkt financial support, but more importantly it will contribute its network and know-how.”

Caroline Princen, member of the ABN AMRO Managing Board: “The Uitmarkt is where art and culture enthusiasts and professionals kick off the new cultural season every year. It’s also a great platform for ABN AMRO to express its commitment to the cultural sector.”
